yay, my IHS is finished! sorry it's taken me forever to let y'all know. blogger and my computer don't get along somehow. anyways, it's long, it's warm, it's red, it's gorgeous and it wants matching mittens now. do we have a pattern foor that yet? or shall I simply take a basic mitten pattern and place a cable on top of that? ideas anyone?

I'm new here - thanks for letting me join in! - and have done the scarf and hat, now working on mittens to match :) I'm using Eco+ from Cascade, an Aran/Chunky weight, the scarf and mittens on a size 10, the hat I did on a size 8. I also ended up changing the hat repeats to 7 rounds rather than 8, I just like the shorter cables more. The mittens... I'm using Kate Gilbert's Gifted Mittens pattern for a base, but on a size 10 needle and with the cable on one side of the body stitches.

And hopefully, I can fix my camera lens and post pictures soon!

I just discovered this fabulous site today and asked to join immediately. My passion is knitting socks but I think it is time I branch out of my comfort zone to knit this gorgeous irish hiking scarf. The aspen are turning gold outside my window and there is a fall nip in the air.....perfect time to start a scarf!

All of your scarfs are so pretty. It will be tough choosing yarn colors.

Ok, I'm finally posting pics of the finished scarf and beanie. These will be given to one of my sis in November for her birthday. I hope she likes the set. I want one for myself now.

My scarf so far

Yarn: Knit Picks Sierra (70% Wool, 30% Superfine Alpaca)
Color: Mist
Needles: US #7

I decided to get a little fancier with the cables, putting a left cable on the right and a right cable on the left. In the middle, I decided to do a ribbed right cable, so I had to add one stitch to total cast-on. And the yarn! I've been very happy with Knit Picks Sierra. The cables show up really well, and the 30% superfine alpaca gives it a softness that many wools lack. It also knits up pretty fast as it is a bulky weight yarn.

I just wanted to post my progress on my scarf. :) I love how it's turning out!!! I'm using Wool-Ease Chunky with #9 needles. :)
