new to the KAL
I'm new to the knit along, and just cast on tonight! This is my very first knit along, although not particularly new to knitting. I adore cables - both the look of them, and the actual knitting (I think because they look so much more difficult then they actually are, and they make my non-knitting friends oooh and ahhh)!
I'm knitting on Addi Turbos with some lovely Debbie Bliss cotton angora from my stash, and am quite pleased with how things are looking so far!

FREE PATTERN: Irish Hiking Headband
I'm a new knitter and attempting my first Irish Hiking Scarf. The pattern is wonderful, the flowing cables are lovely and yes, the gauge is off...way off. By the time this baby is finished, only Shrek the Ogre will be large enough to wear it and not look buried alive in the scarf. :) Nevertheless, I love it. (Can't wait to do it correctly the next time!)

Progress on my Irish Hiking Scarf
Read more about my IHS experience in my blog if you wish...
I am not sure about the lengh my scarf should be though...
I am thinking about 45 repeats or so of the design pattern to get a scarf that can wrap at least once around my neck...
What do you all think? Is it going to be long enough?
Staring at my scarf inspired me... I just love that photo!

Another Irish Hiking Scarf
My wrist warmers are done. I lost count on the first one and had to frog back but the second went so fast my needles were smoking. They fit well and feel so wonderful. I don't know who made the yarn but it's wool and I used it for a dog sweater last winter. In the end I had to frog part of the sweater to finish. I could have sworn I had another skein somewhere...

My First Irish Hiking Scarf

Yarn: Unger Utopia
Needles: aluminum circs
Notes: I made the hat much longer than the SnB pattern so that it could have a warm brim. I also added a pompon made of Utopia. Finally, I used the same dark red yarn to add fringe to the scarf I made so that they really match.
