Yarn Choices?

What yarn is everyone planning on using?
Mine's being made as a Christmas gift so I'm thinking of the Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran. (It's a splurge, but for a cool person)

Oooh I'd love to use something so devine! I'm using boring old Wool Ease for mine. Perhaps I'll end up knitting one for myself as well with alpaca though. Hmmm.

I'll likely get something like wool-ease from Michaels, since this will be my first cable project. If I do it well, I'll hit my cute little LYS and get something more cool for the next project. :-)

I already have a bunch of Wool Ease that I need to do soomething with, so I think this is it. I can't justify spending the money on something else until I use up some more of my stock. =)

Or Cascade 220. Either way. :)

When I first started planning to do this scarf I wanted to spin the yarn myself. I'm only on my first spinning project now and it's nothing I could possible knit that scarf out of, but I may still do that in the future. I wish I could use Cascade 220, but I'm making it for my father's Christmas present and he's allergic to wool, so I'm using Lion Brand Cotton.

I was probably going to use Wool-ease due to it's washability, but I keep looking at Cascade 220 and Superwash, and Lamb's Pride. So it's a toss-up right now. But one thing is for certain and that it will be a deep green colour.

I just ordered some classic elite waterspun, so hopefully that will come in time.

The pattern doesn't state it, but the original is knit in Lamb's Pride Worsted in a charcoal color. I told my BIL, who owns the original scarf pictured in the pattern, that his scarf was famous. He didn't exactly get it. :P

I am going to my LYS today to check out yarns for this project. I love the suggestions. Cascade 220 looks wonderful but most likely I will go with Lamb's Pride since this is my first cabling project. I shall let you know what I end up using. Can't wait to get this started. *grin*

I was thinking about Cashmerino too. The scarf is going to be a gift for my dad, I think, and he can't wear some wools but can handle the softer ones. I'm the same way, so if I decide to keep the scarf, it will still work. :-)

I've been browsing eBay all day trying to make a decision. This is for my brother who recently moved to NYC, so I want it to be something cool but super warm....

The search continues ;)

I'm either going to use some Peruvian Alpaca I picked up from elann.com (sage green) or some tweed alpaca (can't remember the brand) that I got to make my boyfriend a scarf. He might just be getting the hiking scarf :-)

I went by Michaels and picked up Woolease grey heather for me and Woolease chestnut heather for Meg. This is my first cabling attempt, so I thought I would go with something inexpensive.

It's official, I've decided on Cascade 220, color Atlantic (dark blue). I ordered it today, hopefully I will get it by the 1st or I will be a few days behind ;).

I ended up going with Lamb's Pride Worsted in Grey Heather. I cannot wait to see how this turns out. *grin*

My husband finally asked me to knit him something--specifically a scarf. I'll be going with Lamb's Pride Worsted in Deep Charcoal. He gets brownie points for venturing into the LYS and picking out the yarn himself!
